Lou's Island Rain Hats
Our all-weather hats
are meticulously handcrafted in
Campbell River, Vancouver Island, Canada

We buy only a few yards of each fabric and hand make a select number of hats. When you wear an Island Rain Hat, you are wearing a high-quality limited edition. And because our hats don't look like rain hats, you'll be stylish rain or shine.

Our all-weather hats are

Water and sun resistant - protect yourself from the extremes. Get shade from the sun or shelter from the rain - Island Rain Hats are great for storm watching and beachcombing.

Packable - take them anywhere. Island Rain Hats are perfect for land or sea.

Crushable - Island Rain Hats can be rolled and put it in a bag, pocket, or backpack.

Fun - great colors and patterns - cheer yourself up on a dull day. Wear your Island Rain Hat flat or tilted, brim up or down, or half one and half the other.

Light - Island Rain Hats are light on the head, easy to carry and take up very little packing space.

Cleanable - hand or machine wash with mild soap and hang to dry*. If you get sand on your Island Rain Hat at the beach, just brush it off - dirt, sand and mud won't easily absorb.

Adjustable - many of our hats, such as the Island Classic all-weather rain hats, are size adjustable; you can tighten them to your exact head size so they stay on in the wind.

Reversible - again, many of our all-weather rain hats are reversible; if one side gets dirty, flip it over; or flip your Island Rain Hat just for a change of color or texture. Note: These hats are 100% reversible. There are no visible labels and, for guaranteed comfort, adjusting-strap fasteners can always be worn on the outside of the hat.

Rain hat care
Some of the fabrics we use for our Island Rain Hats are water-repellent (the water bounces off) and some are water resistant (the fabric gets wet but the water will not go through). Give the hat a shake before hanging it up. If yours is made of a resistant fabric and you are in a hurry to dry it, you may consider putting it in the dryer. Many of the new water-resistant fabrics respond well to tumble or wrinkle-out settings.

*Never dry clean your Island Rain Hat or use fabric softener or detergent. The chemicals will remove the water-resistant properties. Use a sponge or a brush or a mild soap to remove spots. Because many of our fabrics have a retardant coating, dirt does not easily absorb and simply agitating the hat in water will often be enough to freshen it.

Also, you can buy special soap at outer-wear stores.

If you are looking for a specific color and you don't see it online, give me a call or send me an E-mail; I may have something suitable which hasn't been posted. Also, if you have an extra large or extra small head size, or if you're going to monsoon country and want your seams sealed, let me know, and we'll do our best to accommodate. -- Lou
